Job Summary
The Huawei Consumer Cloud service (CBG Cloud) team is seeking highly skilled and motivated Research Scientists/Engineers with a strong Computer Vision background to join our leading AI research and development team. This role is central to advancing our capabilities in advanced video and image understanding. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting pioneering research and developing novel methodologies to identify, model, and comprehend complex spatial and temporal relationships among multiple objects and scene elements within dynamic video content. This position offers a significant opportunity to drive cutting-edge advancements in computer vision, translate research into impactful solutions, and contribute to technologies that will redefine how we interpret and interact with visual information at scale. The CBG Cloud team at London Research Centre is committed to providing a full-scenario, high-quality smart life experience for hundreds of millions of users by enhancing the AI abilities in our products like Huawei Video, Music, Reading, Browser and Game, and we would like you to help us achieve this.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work to solve challenges and conducting cutting-edge applied research relating to our businesses, i.e. Video, Music, Reading, Browser, Game.
- Design, implement, and evaluate novel computer vision algorithms and models. This includes developing advanced techniques for image and video analysis, such as object recognition, segmentation, tracking, and the understanding of dynamic scenes.
- Drive advancements in fundamental computer vision capabilities, including feature extraction, representation learning, and the modeling of visual data to extract meaningful insights, and moving beyond mere object recognition to include event understanding, activity prediction, and causality.
- Develop and refine state-of-the-art computer vision and machine learning algorithms, ensuring they are robust, efficient, and scalable for processing large-scale visual data.
- Design and execute rigorous empirical evaluations of new CV models and techniques, analyzing results to identify failure modes and drive iterative improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Contribute to research publications, presentations, and intellectual property development as appropriate.

Person Specification:
- Required:
- PhD degree in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Computer Science and Engineering or related subjects.
- A strong track record of impactful research in computer vision, specifically with expertise in video understanding, temporal modeling, action recognition, multi-object tracking, or spatio-temporal reasoning. This should be demonstrated by publications in top-tier conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, ICCV etc).
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly. A collaborative mindset, capable of working effectively in multidisciplinary teams and contributing positively to team dynamics.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a rigorous, detail-oriented approach to research and experimentation.
