Job Summary
The Huawei Consumer Cloud service (CBG Cloud) team is seeking highly skilled and motivated Research Scientists/Engineers with expertise in LLMs, NLP, Knowledge Graphs and Agents, preferably emphasis on LLM evaluation methodologies. In this role, you will play a crucial part in developing robust and comprehensive evaluation frameworks for our state-of-the-art LLMs, ensuring their safety, reliability, fairness, and performance across diverse tasks and applications. You'll contribute to cutting-edge research, design novel metrics, build scalable evaluation pipelines, and provide critical insights that directly impact the quality and deployment of our foundational AI models. The CBG Cloud team at London Research Centre is committed to providing a full-scenario, high-quality smart life experience for hundreds of millions of users by enhancing the AI abilities in our products like Huawei Video, Music, Reading, Browser and Game, and we would like you to help us achieve this.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work to solve challenges and conducting cutting-edge applied research relating to our businesses, i.e. Video, Music, Reading, Browser, Game.
- Carry out literature review and stay updated on the state-of-the-art frameworks or models regarding LLMs, NLP, Knowledge Graphs, Agent and ML/DL.
- Design, develop, and implement AI/ML solutions to support research projects and initiatives. Research and propose novel quantitative and qualitative metrics to assess LLM capabilities and limitations, moving beyond traditional benchmarks to capture nuanced model behaviors.
- Conduct experiments on LLMs fine-tuning, prompting, model deployment, evaluation etc., and analyze results, and iterate on solutions to improve performance, effectiveness and robustness.
- Develop and optimize scalable and automated evaluation pipelines for continuous integration and monitoring of LLM performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Contribute to research publications, presentations, and intellectual property development as appropriate.

Person Specification:
- Required:
- PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics and Engineering or related subjects.
- Strong foundational understanding and hands-on experience with Large Language Models, especially LLMs training, fine-tuning and applications are highly desirable.
- A track record of research excellence, with publications in TOP tier Computing/NLP/AI/ML conferences or journals, such as NeurIPS, ACL, ICLR etc.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly. A collaborative mindset, capable of working effectively in multidisciplinary teams and contributing positively to team dynamics.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a rigorous, detail-oriented approach to research and experimentation.
