Job Summary
The Multimodal Learning group at the London Research Center is seeking a Research Scientist Intern to contribute to the development of novel modelling technology for multimodal large models. The team is tackling ambitious projects focusing on layered and controllable generation and interleaved text-and-image/video generation. The ideal candidate would have experience in Efficient Learning (Parameter Efficient Fine-Tuning, Quantization, Data Efficiency), Generative Modelling (Diffusion Models, Transformers) and/or Multimodal-Large Language Models.
The team is looking for an ambitious Research Scientist Intern for a minimum of six months. The research intern will conduct both academic and applied research to advance the state-of-the-art in multimodal modelling. All interns will work closely with the team and are expected to aim for publishing at top tier academic venues, transfer their work to Huawei products and/or file a patent based on their work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in cutting edge research aiming to solve fundamental machine learning problems.
- Lead the assigned project by designing, implementing and evaluating innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with other team members to facilitate swift development from ideation to implementation.
Person Specification:

Required:
- 2nd or 3rd year PhD student in machine learning or related field.
- Hands on experience with at least one of the following: Diffusion Models, (Visual-)LLMs, or PEFT.
- Experience with: PyTorch, HuggingFace Transformers/Diffusers and Docker.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Desired:
- Strong research engineering skills: ability to quickly prototype while keeping the code readable and documented.
- Interest in composable image generation and perception.
- Experience with PyTorch Profiler, HuggingFace PEFT/Accelerate and Gradio.
